Management team

Norwegian Accreditation’s management team is composed of the Director General and two Heads of Department.

Department of Accreditation

The Department of Accreditation has case handling, assessment, accreditation, and follow-up of accredited organizations as its main task.

The Department is the leading department for our two specialized sections:

  • Section for Environment and Health
  • Section for Industry and Certification

 

Section for Industry and Certification

Section for Industry and Certification is responsible for:

  • Verification bodies
  • Inspection bodies
  • Certification bodies
  • Laboratories within the areas of calibration, maritime, land-based industry, and construction products

 

Section for Environment and Health

Section for Environment and Health is responsible for:

  • Medical
  • Health
  • Environment
  • Foodstuff
  • Forensic analysis
  • Wastewater treatment plant

The Section is responsible for inspections in accordance with OECD’s principles for Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

Department of Development and International Collaboration

The department works on establishing new accreditation schemes and coordinates the agency's work in international cooperation organizations. The department contributes to the continuous improvement of internal work processes, as well as the recruitment of technical assessors, which involves hiring personnel externally. The department also ensures competence and training on international standards internally.

Department for Digitization, IT and Communication

Department of Digitalization, IT and Communication has operation, maintenance and development of IT systems, development of new digital systems, communication and the Norwegian Accreditation’s website as its main tasks.

Department for Finances and Administration

Department of Finance and Administration is responsible for:

  • Finances and corporate governance
  • Archives and document management
  • HR/HSE
  • Procurement
  • PPublic access and privacy
  • Processing of appeals on decisions made by NA
  • Office operations, salaries and accounting

Norwegian Accreditation’s Forum for Regulatory Authorities

The forum is Norwegian Accreditation’s advisory committee regarding operation and development of accreditation schemes. The forum also contributes in communicating and promoting accreditation as a tool to document competence. Read more about the Forum for Regulatory Authorities here.

Norwegian Accreditation User Forum

The User Forum was established in 2022. The purpose of the User Forum is to receive feedback. The goal is to facilitate good interaction between Norwegian Accreditation (NA) and applicants/accredited enterprises, as well as others interested in accreditation. The forum consists of 15-20 external members in addition to NA representatives. The forum is composed in a way that ensures representation of significant portions of accredited enterprises.

Norwegian Accreditation's Appeals Comittee

Norwegian Accreditation’s appeals committee handles appeals about accreditation decisions. The committee provides advice to the director of Norwegian Accreditation before a final decision is made. The appeals committee consists of a chairperson, vice-chairperson, and an additional member from the regulatory authorities forum.
